PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN STAR NEYMAR BEGINS BARCA COURT CASE

Just hours after scoring the only goal as Paris Saint-Germain beat bitter rivals Olympique de Marseille 1-0 in Ligue 1's Le Classique on Sunday, Neymar was in court in Barcelona on Monday. The Brazil international appeared in Barcelona with eight others to face fraud and corruption charges which date back to 2013 and his move from Santos to the Catalan giants.

Why is Neymar in court?

Brazilian investment firm DIS owned 40% of Neymar's rights when he was a Santos player. DIS allege that his move from Brazil to Barcelona was incorrectly valued and understated. DIS are pushing the charges against him and Neymar is a named defendant alongside his parents, former Barca presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu as well as representatives of both clubs and Santos president Odilio Rodrigues. Reuters reports that all nine deny any wrongdoing.

NEYMAR STARS AGAINST BLACK STARS

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar Neymar was in fine form as he helped Brazil extend their winning run to six games on the international football stage. Neymar provided a couple of assists to lead Brazil to a big win over the Black Stars of Ghana. The PSG attacker didn't get on the scoresheet, but he provided two assists on the way to a 3-0 victory for his team. The Brazilians did all the damage in the first half with the three goals.

Brazil are one of themost in-form teams on the international football scene and they came into the game with the Ghanaians on Friday night on the back of a five-game winning run and a 13-game unbeaten run and they were able to extend both records thanks to a dominant win over the Ghanaians.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN TRIO ARE FINALLY THRIVING TOGETHER AT THE PARC DES PRINCES

Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe have had an explosive start to the new season, combining for 32 goals and assists so far this season as they enjoy Galtier’s 3-4-3 configuration. Neymar and Messi have 22 goals and assists in six games this season, compared to 36 total last season. PSG have three centre-backs who can play possession-based football, with Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos’ passing range and Presnel Kimpembe’s ability to carry the ball into midfield.

The technique also complements the style of their wing-backs. Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi are both dynamic athletes who thrive when given the opportunity to rush forward and carry the ball into the final third. With three centre-backs behind them, they are relieved of deeper defensive responsibilities, giving them this flexibility.

LIGUE 1: NEYMAR LEADS SCORING CHART

The former Barcelona and Santos attacker scored twice for PSG in the 4-0 win over 10-man Nantes as the French champions started the season with a trophy via the French Super Cup. The 2022 French Super Cup was contested by the winner of the French Ligue 1 (PSG) and the winner of the French Cup (Nantes)

MANCHESTER UNITED EYEING SOUTH AMERICA STAR TO REPLACE CRISTIANO RONALDO

According to The Mirror (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are eyeing a move for Neymar if Cristiano Ronaldo were to leave the club this summer. It’s vaguely suggested that the Brazilian would be considered in case the legendary number seven departs Old Trafford before deadline day. His potential departure will leave a huge void in our attack. Neymar is one of the world’s biggest superstars and it would make sense as a replacement for another superstar. Apart from goals, Ronaldo brings eyeballs to the club. The Brazilian has a similar following in world football.

Neymar is considered one of the best players in the world for his flair and dribbling abilities. The 30-year-old has the ability to run past any defence and score goals. The Brazilian style of football is known around the world for being audacious. And Neymar has plenty of that in his locker. He still has several years to go at the top and could potentially set the field alight at the Theatre of Dreams.

MAN UTD AND CHELSEA READY BIDS FOR WONDERKID DUBBED NEXT NEYMAR

Endrick, the teenager dubbed ‘the next Neymar’, turned 16 on Thursday – and two of the Premier League’s top clubs are already reportedly intent on securing his services. The highly-rated Brazilian, who is said to have scored a staggering 170 goals in 172 career outings, is set to sign a professional deal with Palmeiras – the club he has been with since the age of 11. Unfortunately for Palmeiras fans, they probably won’t have long to enjoy his outrageous talents. Endrick is tipped for a bright future in European football – something that is not lost on media in the South American country.

Journalists are expected to be out in force to capture the moment Endrick inks his Palmeiras contract. For most 15-year-olds, the attention might be a little overwhelming. Despite there being no competitive games in June’s camp, Moriyasu has already hinted that he’ll turn to his strongest players as they prepare for Qatar 2022 [Excite]. Japan will face Paraguay on June 2nd before the Brazil clash 4 days later. The Kirin Cup will then get underway on June 10th.
