Rooney Finally Scores World Cup Goal

England superstar Wayne Rooney finally managed to get the monkey off his back after scoring a World Cup goal, which came in the 2-1 defeat against Uruguay. Rooney came into the World Cup 2014 after having not scored in his previous eight World Cup matches. The run continued to nine after the forward missed several good opportunities against Italy, which was a match that England lost 2-1 as well. Rooney was in danger of being branded as a spectacular failure at international level, but he came up with an equaliser against Uruguay.

Time for Rooney to deliver

The build-up to the World Cup continues now the domestic campaigns are over and, as countries prepare themselves for Brazil by organising training camps and friendlies, plenty of commentators and pundits are selecting who they think will be the star players this summer.

Wayne Rooney has been singled out by many who predict the forward will be England's shining light in the tournament, but can the Manchester United man handle the pressure and live up to the hype?

Robben dismisses United link

Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben has dismissed rumours linking him with a possible move to the Premier League with Manchester United, with the Dutchman insisting he is settled and happy in Germany.

The appointment of Louis van Gaal as the United's new manager had led Betfair punters to believe Robben could be set to join his compatriot at Old Trafford next season, but the former Chelsea winger has made it clear he isn't looking to leave Bayern.

Gareth Bale is quite confident that his team Real Madrid would be able to go through to the semi final round of the ongoing UEFA Champions League.

In the return leg of their quarter final tie on Tuesday, Real will be up against Borussia Dortmund. They have won the first leg by 3-0. So, they are in a very good position, but, things can still turn around considering the players Borussia has got.

The manager of Dinamo Zagreb, Zoran Mamic has revealed that despite the recent sanction of Barcelona which will be prohibiting the Spanish club on selling and buying new players for the upcoming 14 months, the transfer involving Halilovic is still going to take place.

Chelsea is riding high at the top of the Premier League but there still an evident struggle that continues on being displayed in the squad which is their inability of having a consistent striker.

This is a concern that Jose Mourinho is well aware about as he has announced it to the media on a number of occasions and at some points it has even caused problems with certain players of his squad.

It seems as if in this season all eyes are being placed on David Moyes, with some fans stating that he needs to leave the club if they want to recover the glory of their past years while others insist in saying that the Scottish coach just needs time to settle in Old Trafford.

As the January transfer window recently opened, there has been increased speculation about the future of Manchester United's star Wayne Rooney, who is about to enter into the final year of his contract.

He was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer, but United blocked any possibility of the move happening on grounds that Chelsea were a direct rival. United also believed that they would be able to persuade Rooney to sign a new contract, as any club would be in a disadvantageous position to the player entered into the final year of his deal.

Landon Donovan’s international career is going through some tough times as his recent performances with USA have seen him playing below his usual standards. Playing poorly against Jamaica back in October and later being substituted during the match against Panama.

Things get worse for him as now he will be absent for his team’s matches for around a month due to an ankle injury.

“My aim is to take at least the next four weeks and probably six weeks and let the ankle heal and then get myself ready.” Donovan said.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that he expects Wayne Rooney to become one of the greatest players for Manchester United. The 27-year-old decided to stay at Old Trafford after revealing his desire to leave the club at the end of last season.

He had grown frustrated about life on the bench, while even if selected, he was played constantly out of position. Rooney has been at Old Trafford since 2004 after his £ 30 million transfer from Everton. Back then, he became the world's most expensive teenager. He has not disappointed, though, by managing to score a lot of goals.
